A stone’s throw from the basilica, this hotel was formerly known as the Golden Eagle in the 1700s and catered to many illustrious visitors such as Emperor Joseph II of Austria in 1775 and Emperor Ferdinand IV, King of the Two Sicilies. Many pilgrims who travel to the basilica opt to stay here in the modest yet comfortable accommodations. Be sure to request a bathroom with a shower if that’s what you prefer since not all rooms come equipped, though they do have television, phone and air conditioning. Breakfast and parking are also available but not included. Several rooms have a view of the basilica, including 147 and 145 (doubles) and 149 and 150 (singles).
